Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and six (6) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 8 (Salaried)

Position Description:

The Research Program Manager II will support the research efforts for the Department of Medicine with over 400 sponsored program codes across 12 divisions. This position will assist Department PIs at all levels of pre- and post-award grant management and will ensure the department is compliant with all granting agency submissions, reporting, and expense requirements. This position will also assist the Department Chair and Department Research Committee with department-wide research initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and update departmental project management policies, procedures and tools to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance for internal and external research-related research projects. 

  • Maintain database to track projects and employee information, including project status, employee effort, and compliance requirements.

  • Assist the Department Chair with the implementation of the Department’s research project development plans and oversight of department rif funds. 

  • Develop and maintain tools to streamline administrative processes for faculty and staff, including electronic budget and proposal development, data validation to increase accuracy and compliance, grant development timelines, and faculty research plans.

  • Provide training and assistance to divisional leadership in tracking grant award set-up and budget alignment.

  • Assist the Department Chair with the completion of special projects related to research and non-research activities.

  • Work in coordination with other departmental research staff on both pre- and post-award as point of contact for any research related issues and effort reporting.

  • Supervise department Research Coordinator.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive background in academic research with a preference for basic and clinical related research.

  • Experience assisting with application form completion, grant proposal editing, budgeting for applications, and post award expense monitoring for allowability.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
