Position Summary

The Genome Technology Access Center at the McDonnell Genome Institute (GTAC@MGI) was formed in 2019 and represents a union of the institution’s two major genomics research facilities. The combined unit provides scale and efficiencies to investigators that are offered by few other facilities in the nation. GTAC@MGI provides access in a fee-for-service model to all of its genomics technologies and services to researchers at WashU and beyond. GTAC@MGI offers comprehensive next-gen sequencing, microarray, PCR, and other specialized services.

This opportunity is for our clinical next-gen sequencing laboratory. The laboratory is responsible for the preparation of DNA for sequencing through the operation of the sequencer. We currently use the Illumina NovaSeq X Plus system.

The primary focus of the lab’s work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

• Specimen processing, involving both manual and automated technology.
• NextGen library preparation, involving both manual and automated technology.
• Capture Hybridization.
• NovaSeq X Plus operation.
• Documentation of all QC results.
• Compliance with checklist items for CAP accreditation.

This job will require weekend hours, working 4 ten-hour shifts with some flexibility on scheduled workdays.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range:

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
