About the opportunity

Are you an experienced nurse interested in research? Do you have a desire to improve outcomes for women and babies?

There is an exciting opportunity for a nurse/midwife to join the Mercy Hospital/University of Melbourne O&G research team. The position involves working alongside the primary investigator and a research team on COMFY 3. We are hoping to see whether a new fetal monitoring device can accurately record the fetal heart rate, maternal heart rate and uterine activity. This position includes participant engagement, recruitment of participants in labour, applying the device, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, pregnancy outcome characterisation and data management.

You will be responsible for

· Managing day-to-day operations (participant recruitment, application of fetal monitoring device, documentation, record keeping, etc.) of research studies

· Maintain accurate participant records, including data entry

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Registered midwife (+/- nurse) with minimum 2 years birthing suite experience and current APRHA registration

  • Intrauterine Pressure Catheter and Fetal Scalp Electrode experience (desirable)

  • Strong communication skills to enable recruitment to research studies, and to explain the purpose of the research confidently Excellent organisational and team working skills, with the ability to work independently (essential)

  • Highly developed computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook: essential) as well as with REDCap database (desirable)

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification or commitment to attainment within three months of commencing role (essential).

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.

  • Must hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia or be an Australian citizen
