The Opportunity:
As the Research Intern at Washington State University within the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, you will perform investigative and laboratory work in support of research on rodent models of behavior and neurodevelopmental disorders. You will be responsible for supervising, breeding, and caring for rodents. You will work on research projects to study behavior of wild type and transgenic mice. Additionally, you will conduct experiments, collect and analyze samples, and assist with laboratory operations and maintenance. Participation in lab meetings, discussions, and related duties as assigned by the (Principal Investigator) PI is also expected.
* This is a 1-year fixed appointment. Renewal is contingent on project needs and available funding.

This is a full time (100% FTE), project position. This position is overtime eligible.
Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end 1 year from date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Monthly Salary: $3,379.14 - $4,862.67 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent related field experience performing work with research, scientific or clinical research protocols. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of Biology, Psychology, or related field; experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to become proficient and comfortable with handling mice.
Ability to work flexible hours, including periods requiring early start time and/or weekend days with advance notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with animals in a research setting.
Experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, western blots).
