NTU SINGAPORE

Research Fellow (Quantum Materials Theory)

NTU Main Campus, Singapore Full time

We seek to hire a postdoctoral Research Fellow in condensed matter and quantum materials theory with specific areas of interest in the quantum geometry of strongly correlated materials and its effects in non-reciprocal electronic, opto-electronic, and thermal response. The candidate that fills the role will investigate how quantum geometry can be evaluated in strongly correlated materials with a focus on new interacting effects and its manifestations in electron, opto-electronic, and thermal response. The candidate should have excellent skills in the techniques of condensed matter theory (e.g., perturbation theory, response theory) as well as strong familiarity with techniques in analyzing strong correlations (e.g., exact diagonalization, DMRG) and experience with connecting such analyses to real experimental phases of matter. The candidate will support research in the research group through analytical calculations, numerical simulations as well as facilitate collaboration with other research groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform theoretical research into the electronic, opto-electronic, and thermal response of quantum materials with specific interests in many-body quantum geometry enabled responses.

  • Analytical treatments as well as numerical simulations of quantum materials, specifically coding simulations of the electronic dynamics and wavefunctions (both ground state and excited states) in strongly correlated electronic matter

  • Extending numerical and analytical treatments to include flux threading of many body states across a variety of phases of matter.

  • Support research activities in the research group including writing numerical simulations and code, collaborating with experimental groups as well as other theoretical groups.

  • Assist with guiding students in the group including providing technical numerical and analytical guidance for calculations and computations for the students. The candidate will also facilitate group activities as well such as the group’s research meetings and research seminars

  • The research fellow will report to the PI, conduct theoretical research (analytical and computational) in quantum materials, write papers, present research, as well as collaborate with other members of the group and researchers outside the group on research projects.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics

  • Experience in condensed matter theory research, specifically in strongly correlated materials simulations as well as in response theory that may include electronic, opto-electronic, and/or thermal responses

  • Adeptness in numerics of quantum materials especially in the numerical simulations of strongly correlated electronic matter and response functions.

  • Good written and oral communications skills; ability to present science convincingly

  • Ability to work independently especially in coding, writing, and analyzing data.

We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
