NTU SINGAPORE

Research Fellow (Electrochemical Energy & Redox Flow Batteries)

NTU Main Campus, Singapore Full time

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a leading academic unit in education and research on sustainable infrastructure, environmental engineering, and water and energy technologies. Through innovative, interdisciplinary research, CEE addresses pressing global challenges. Aligned with this mission, the Ye Lab focuses on the design of advanced porous materials and membrane technologies for energy and environmental applications.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to support the development of advanced electrochemical energy systems, with a focus on redox flow battery technologies. The role focuses on electrochemical characterisation, system-level evaluation, performance optimisation, and laboratory capability building, contributing to high-impact research aligned with NTU’s mission in sustainable energy and environmental solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on electrochemical energy systems, with a focus on redox flow battery technologies.

  • Develop, establish and optimise electrochemical testing platforms, methods, and laboratory protocols.

  • Perform electrochemical characterisation, system-level evaluation and long-term performance testing of membranes and devices.

  • Analyse data and prepare high-quality reports, publications and presentations.

  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners locally and internationally.

  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in electrochemical testing and data analysis.

  • Support laboratory operations, including equipment setup, maintenance and safety compliance.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • 0–2 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in electrochemistry, with demonstrated expertise in redox flow battery technologies, redox species development and characterisation, or related areas.

  • Strong hands-on experience with electrochemical techniques, such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, battery testing, and data analysis.

  • Familiarity with electrochemical laboratory practices, including SOPs, safety regulations, and proper experimental documentation.

  • Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to analyse data and contribute to reports, publications, and presentations.

  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

  • Experience in student supervision, mentoring, or collaborative research projects is desirable.
