We are hiring a Research Fellow with teaching in EEE to support research and development for AiBBLe, an AI-enabled brain-based learning platform, with emphasis on AI for learning, intelligent educational systems, human-centred AI, multimodal analytics, and related system design. The Research Fellow is also expected to support teaching activities as required by the School. Candidates should have a strong research track record, the ability to contribute to publications and interdisciplinary R&D, and prior teaching, tutoring, or laboratory instructional experience. Experience in generative AI, adaptive systems, learning technologies, sensing, or multimodal analytics will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on AI for learning, intelligent educational systems, human-centered AI, multimodal analytics, and related areas relevant to the AiBBLe platform.

  • Translate AiBBLe’s educational and brain-based learning goals into technically feasible platform logic, prototypes, workflows, and evaluation designs.

  • Publish high-quality journal and conference papers and prepare technical reports and presentations.

  • Assist in mentoring MSc dissertation students, undergraduate research students, or project teams, and support experiments, pilot studies, and applied evaluations.

  • Assist the School in teaching-related duties, including tutorials, laboratory support, project supervision, or other instructional activities with up to 350 hours per academic year.

Job Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, Biomedical Engineering, or other related fields.

  • Strong research background in intelligent systems, human-centred AI, machine learning, multimodal analytics, learning technologies, or related areas.

  • Working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, prompt design, adaptive systems, data analysis, experimentation, and research software prototyping.

  • Ability to translate research concepts into practical technical designs, prototypes, experiments, and platform features.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability and willingness to contribute to university teaching duties within an engineering-school environment.

  • Independent, self-motivated, and able to work well in an interdisciplinary team.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and project needs.
