We are looking for an experienced Chemical Process Engineer to join its research and technology team. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary environment focused on developing and scaling advanced seawater electrolysis, carbon dioxide removal and related chemical processes. The role requires a mid-senior professional who brings hands-on expertise in plant operations, process troubleshooting, optimization, and engineering to advance ERI@N's mission of deploying real-world energy solutions. The Engineer will be pivotal in bridging laboratory-scale research with pilot and demonstration-scale process engineering, and process operations, thereby contributing directly to Singapore's decarbonization and energy security objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain pilot-scale and demonstration chemical process plants, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance

  • Lead systematic troubleshooting of process upsets, equipment failures, and off-spec conditions; implement and document corrective actions

  • Identify and drive process optimisation opportunities to improve yield, energy efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness

  • Develop, review, and update process engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and HAZOP studies

  • Support scale-up activities by translating R&D findings into process design packages and engineering specifications

  • Collaborate with analytical, mechanical, and research teams to integrate measurements and data into process improvement cycles

  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode analysis for recurring process or equipment issues

  • Ensure compliance with EHS regulations, workplace safety requirements, and institutional guidelines at all times in compliance with Singapore regulations

  • Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to project stakeholders

  • Support procurement, commissioning, and qualification of new process equipment

  • Support in operator training for the process and in compliance with local Singapore WSH requirements

Job Requirements:

Required educational qualification:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Candidates with a Ph.D. and relevant industrial experience are also welcome.

Required experience:

7-10 years of hands-on experience in plant operations, process engineering, or a related chemical/industrial role. Experience in energy, hydrogen, electrolysis, electrochemistry, water treatment, desalination, membranes, and specialty chemicals is advantageous.

Required skills and competencies:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in process troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimisation methodologies

  • Strong working knowledge of process engineering tools and standards (PFDs, P&IDs, HAZOP, MOC)

  • Experience with chemical process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent) is preferred

  • Familiarity with safety management systems, WSH and EHS regulatory requirements in Singapore, and local operational permits for chemical inventory management

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working with minimal supervision

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in preparing high-quality technical documentation
