Job Summary

Developing Equitable, Visionary, Evidence-based Programs for Lifelong Outcomes in Pediatrics (DEVELOP); an innovative pilot centred in equity- and person-centered neurodevelopmental care that will shape the future of developmental pediatrics and rehabilitation for children and families.

The focus of these projects includes practical clinical innovations with measurable impact and a clear pathway for implementation within BCCH. Priority areas include:

  • Improving functional and lifelong outcomes for children

  • Advancing equity and access, especially for underserved families

  • Enhancing system efficiency (triage, flow, navigation, wait times)

  • Scalability and sustainability within BCCH and its related care pathways

The work will be conducted in-person at Sunnyhill situated within the BC Women’s and Children's Hospital in Vancouver. The Coordinator will assist with various activities related to the overall programme which will include multiple projects with diverse stakeholders.


Organizational Status
The Coordinator will interact with the Principal Investigator, program Managers, Clinicians and other members of the team including residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students.

Work Performed

  • Assist with implementation of work related to DEVELOP Innovation pilots

  • Create and design system tracking, databases, input data and extract data related to scalability and sustainability of the pilots

  • Prepare materials for meetings and presentations

  • Develops, maintain and ensures project records are accurate and detailed

  • Outline timelines, project deliverables and provides feedback relating to the successful execution of the projects

  • Implements or contributes to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle

  • Coordinate and provide input and follow up for action items

  • Interact with clinical and research personnel and patients/families

  • Participate in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operations demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets

  • Process/supervise and track payments for various services and patient/family honorariums

  • Coordinate data acquisition, develop storage, deidentification and confidentiality protocols in compliance with hospital and ethics requirements

  • Perform quality assurance auditing

  • Perform preliminary analysis data and system flow outcomes related to sustainability for reports

  • Coordinate meetings internally for projects and externally for DEVELOP committee

Consequence of Error/Judgement
The incumbent is required to conduct all activities in an ethical manner, suited to the proper activities of the University of British Columbia and to the professional organizations governing themselves and those governing the activities of the Director, Clinicians and all other investigators. Any procedures or data recorded as part of a DEVELOP pilot must be accurate and reflect the work performed.

Supervision Received
The incumbent will work independently in collaboration with the Managers. This coordinator will receive specific instruction on procedures and techniques by the project managers, Principal Investigator and others from Sunnyhill and BCCH who are skilled in aspects of these pilot programs.

Supervision Given
Provide assistance to the Principal Investigator, Managers, other staff and students.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Recent experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.  Project Management Professional designation considered an asset.

Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.  Experience or working knowledge of content areas is key to the success of this role.  Effectively monitors budgets and executes project plans with stringent timelines.  Utilizes initiative, vision, independent thinking and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and realize project completion.  Excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the clinical community.
