Job Overview

Research Specialist 3, Thrive Center for Children, Families and Communities - Georgetown University.

The mission of the Thrive Center is advancing community-led, family-centered systems of care through partnerships, training, and research that transform policies, practices, and perspectives. Thrive, faculty are leading several research and evaluation projects in pediatric primary care aimed at highlighting the ways in which integrative, two-generational approaches can support whole family mental health and wellbeing.

The Research Specialist 3 will coordinate multiple related but distinct research studies at various stages of implementation. For each, the Research Specialist 3 will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of community-based, mixed methods evaluation protocols, including data collection, entry and management, and report generation. Tasks include creating study databases integrating information from various sources (e.g., electronic medical records, participant self-report electronic surveys, qualitative interviews), developing and maintaining participant tracking systems, designing outreach/communication materials, and analyzing longitudinal quantitative as well as qualitative data. The Research Specialist 3 will supervise research assistants at the Thrive Center and partnering research sites to ensure timely and complete data collection.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Submitting IRB applications for future projects and maintaining compliance with IRB protocols for ongoing projects.

  • Design systems for data collection/integration and participant tracking, and ensure they are implemented by research assistants.

  • Support the PI in data analysis and report generation.

  • Convene meetings with internal and external project team members.

Work Interactions

The Research Specialist 3 will be supervised by the Administrator of the Thrive Center and work under the programmatic direction of the Principal Investigator, who is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Thrive. Under limited supervision, the Research Specialist 3 will interface with project faculty, administrative staff, team members from partner sites, and funders. The Research Specialist 3 will be expected to conduct research team meetings and attend meetings with site partners, as well as Thrive Center faculty and staff.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred, with at least 5-7 years relevant experience

  • Proficiency with quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis software (e.g., Excel, RedCap and AtlasTI)

  • At least two years of working on multiple research studies simultaneously is preferred

  • Must have excellent organizational and task management skills, preferably with training in program management, to ensure study activities are completed on time and in accordance with Institutional Review Board and funder requirements.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are critical to managing study personnel and to disseminating research findings.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
