Information Technology Services at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Research Computing Systems Analyst II position on the Research IT team. This position will support a wide range of research disciplines across various computational technologies including cloud services, backend webdev, security compliance, and high-performance computing. As a member of the Research IT team, this position will work directly with student and faculty researchers helping them find and use relevant technical resources.
What You'll Do:
Assist researchers with selecting and using cloud services and web technologies; ensure solutions are secure, cost-effective, and meet ISU standards for branding and accessibility.
Provide guidance on data classification and protections; configure billing alerts and cost estimates for cloud usage.
Consult on computational research problems, recommend technologies, and manage HPC job submissions and resource configurations.
Automate server deployment and scaling using DevOps tools like Ansible; identify and implement automation opportunities.
Collaborate on shared resources, contribute documentation, and train team members through presentations and one-on-one sessions.
Monitor system health and logs, enforce security standards, and respond to incidents in coordination with ITS Security.
Stay current on emerging web and cloud technologies; test and evaluate new tools and propose improvements.
