Job Title:

Research Communications Senior Writer

Department:

Medicine | IM Medical Oncology

Dr. Li is widely recognized for his pioneering contributions at the interface of immune regulation, proteostasis, and translational immuno‑oncology. Over the past two decades, his laboratory has established key principles linking endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteostasis to immune function. His team was among the first to apply mammalian genetics to elucidate the in vivo roles of GRP94/gp96, an ER‑resident HSP90 paralog, demonstrating its function as a client‑restricted, ATP‑dependent immune chaperone essential for the organization of Toll‑like receptors, integrins, Wnt co‑receptors, the GARP–TGF‑β axis, and platelet biology. These discoveries helped launch the field of immune chaperone biology and have produced multiple translational innovations, including gp96‑based cancer vaccines and first‑in‑human anti‑GARP CAR‑T therapies.

The Research Communications Senior Writer will collaborate closely with the Li Lab to translate scientific concepts, discoveries, and ongoing initiatives into clear, accurate, and compelling written materials. Responsibilities will include the development of manuscripts, grant applications, post‑award scientific reports, industry‑sponsored research agreements, patent‑related documents, clinical trial protocols, IND applications, scientific presentations, research process documentation, and strategic communications such as marketing materials. Through these efforts, the Senior Writer will support the laboratory’s mission by effectively communicating the significance, innovation, and impact of PIIO’s research at the forefront of immuno‑oncology.
