The Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII) is a living laboratory where we investigate the relationship between computer technology, human activity, and society. Founded in 1993, the HCII is a place where we work to understand and create technology that harmonizes with and improves human capabilities, goals, and social environments through interdisciplinary research and education in design, computer science, and behavioral and social sciences. We research how people work, play, and communicate within groups, organizations, and social structures, then we design, create, and evaluate technologies and tools to support human and social activities.

HCII is seeking a Research Associate to join the team! The research associate (RA) will help with all aspects of on-going education technologies research projects, including literature search, testing new education technology (e.g., an intelligent tutoring system or an authoring tools), running studies in schools and other places, data collection, data analysis, and helping to prepare publications.

Core Responsibilities:

The RA will help with the following activities as they relate to educational technology research:

  • Literature search

  • Data analysis
  • Helping to prepare publications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science and/or human-computer interaction, preferably with additional coursework in one or more of: education, educational psychology, education technology, cognitive psychology, cognitive psychology, or cognitive science. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working on education or education technology research and development projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements:

  • Successful background check
  • Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
  • CITI training (IRB)
