Hiring Unit:

Department of Physics

Position Summary:

  • Provide hands-on support for ongoing quantum optics experiments, including setup optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to associated theoretical work needed to complete the project (e.g., model development, parameter estimation, and interpretation of measurements).
  • Ensures the execution of targeted measurements to complete outstanding experimental tasks and datasets.
  • Mentor and train students in day-to-day experimental procedures and systematic debugging practices.
  • Maintain concise documentation (protocols/SOPs, lab notes) to support reproducible work.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in quantum optics/quantum photonics (experimental and/or theoretical) supported by publication records.
  • Strong experimental troubleshooting skills with quantum optics lab instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ability to develop/use theoretical models to guide experiments and interpret results.
  • Working proficiency with scientific programming/data analysis (e.g., Python/Matlab).
  • Ability to mentor trainees effectively; strong communication and teamwork.

Experience and Education

  • PhD, Physics
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on research experience, including 3 years in an academic or industrial photonics/quantum optics lab
