What You Will Contribute To Altos

The purpose of this hands-on role is to provide technical support for a large discovery data collection project within the Institute of Computation. The candidate will work closely with lab and hub scientists to handle, prepare and process cryopreserved animal tissues for histological imaging and downstream molecular biology outputs. 

  • Be responsible for preparing, tracking and processing a large amount of cryopreserved animal tissues for spatial profiling. 
  • Carry out downstream molecular biology experiments on cryopreserved tissues for sample quality control assessments and multiple modality data collection efforts.  
  • Assist with histological annotation of mouse tissues. 
  • Lead efforts to implement and maintain inventory and sample tracking systems.
  • Work closely with colleagues to plan large scale data collection, storage and information dissemination. 
  • Support research activities with the supervision of a scientist. 
  • Set up and operate laboratory equipment, prepare materials, perform experimental procedures, record and consolidate research data, and execute planned research activities using observation, measurement, and analytical techniques. 

Who You Are 

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of combined relevant education and experience, and will possess the following qualifications. 

  • BS in Biomedical Science or a related discipline. 
  • Practical experience in a biological / medical / pharmaceutical research environment.
  • Experience in the preparation of laboratory animal tissues 
  • Experience in cryosectioning 
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA extraction
  • Experience of immunohistochemistry techniques and other methods of tissue-based expression analysis. 
  • High level of computer literacy to maintain electronic records. 
  • Highly organized and self-motivated. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a solution-driven mindset. 
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to work with diverse and cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to multitask and work across multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

The salary range for San Diego, CA: 

  •  
  • Research Associate II: $101,150 - $136,850

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
