Hourly Rate:

AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $31.89 ou/or $50.25 (2024-2025)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Requirements and Nature of Work:

Nature of Work:

– Conduct an extensive literature review of the national and international research, policy and programs on the processing of cases in Bail Court.

- Carry out 50-60 hours of bail court observations in both video remand court and show cause hearings in the Ottawa Courthouse (161 Elgin Street, Ottawa).

- Code preliminary quantitative and qualitative data on the processing as well as the outcomes of observed bail cases.

Qualifications:

- Graduate-level knowledge of the operation of bail court in Canada, as well as the relevant legislative, judicial, policy and scholarly research/literature on the topic

- Minimum of 75-100 hours of bail court observations conducted in an Ontario bail court

- Direct experience in the collection, coding and analyses of quantitative and qualitative data on the routine processing of bail court cases (including both first appearance cases and show cause hearings)

- General knowledge of international trends and practices

- Experience with SPSS/STATA.
