The School of Engineering Medicine in collaboration with Texas A&M College of Engineering, Texas A&M School of Medicine and the state’s top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital offer an innovative medical school program called ENMED This program was established to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the development of medical technologies, and the development and training of “Physicianeers.” ENMED delivers a revolutionary blended curriculum with focus on innovation and entrepreneurship where students receive a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Engineering degree in the same four years.

What we want

The Research Assistant will support research activities in biomechanics and biomaterials with a focus on computational simulation of membrane and plate structures. The position involves implementation of numerical simulations to study mechanical behavior of biological and bio-inspired structures. This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TAMU does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Computer Science or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in calculus.

Responsibilities

Research

  • Assist in implementing numerical simulations using MATLAB, Python, or related computational tools.

  • Will conduct parametric studies and validate simulation results against theoretical predictions or experimental data (as applicable).

  • Will prepare technical reports, figures, and documentation summarizing research findings.

  • Maintain organized records of derivations, codes, and simulation workflows

 

Research Publications

  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.

 

Lab Meetings

  • Will participate in group meetings and present research progress.
