What we want  

The Research Assistant, under general supervision, provides skilled administrative, technical, and research support across a variety of scientific projects. Assists in the setup and daily operations of the laboratory, manages research equipment, and ensures compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards. Maintains and genotypes mouse colonies, conducts experiments, and trains lab or field personnel.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • One year of laboratory research experience in biological and biomedical sciences. including molecular biology, microbiology or immunology 

  • Demonstrated experience in mouse handling and colony management. 

  • Familiarity with molecular biology, virology, immunology, or cell culture techniques. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities. 

  • Self-motivated with attention to detail and a strong work ethic. 

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains mouse colonies, including Breeding, Genotyping, Handling knockout and transgenic lines. 

  • Assists in the design and execution of experiments. 

  • Performs experiments independently. 

  • Collects, analyzes, and records experimental data. 

  • Maintains accurate research records and performs data entry. 

  • Maintains lab safety protocols and training modules. Ensures compliance with EH&S, IACUC, and IBC approved protocols. 

  • Performs general lab ordering and inventory management. Manages and maintains lab equipment and arrange spaces. 

  • Prepares reagents, tissue cultures, and assay materials.  

  • Mentors graduate and undergraduate students. Work collaboratively with lab members and collaborative projects 

  • Helps in writing manuscripts, lab safety documents, and other compliance documents.
