The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 20-month contract at the Psychology and Child & Human Development (PCHD) Department.
Project Title: Co-Designing BEAM-SSI (Burnout and Emerging Adult Mental Health Single-Session Intervention): A Multiphase Intervention Development and Pilot Evaluation Study
Project Introduction:
This project focuses on understanding of burnout among emerging adults, with a particular focus on university students in Singapore.
Specifically, the study examines:
How burnout develops and is experienced during emerging adulthood; Lived experiences and unmet needs related to burnout within the local context; and the development and preliminary evaluation of a co-designed, single-session intervention aimed at reducing burnout and supporting student well-being.
The Research Assistant will be involved in a multi-phase research programme and will gain hands-on experience across several stages of applied mental health research, including evidence synthesis, qualitative inquiry, and intervention development and evaluation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, or a closely related field
- Prior experience in psychological and/or educational research, including project coordination
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Proficiency in a statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Jamovi), and basic familiarity with qualitative analysis tools (e.g., NVivo)
- Experience with online data collection platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently when required
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with good time-management skills
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day research activities, including study logistics, scheduling, and administrative processes
- Lead and support data collection activities (e.g., surveys, interviews), ensuring compliance with research protocols and ethical requirements
- Recruit and liaise with research participants, and relevant stakeholders, where appropriate
- Organize, code, and analyze qualitative and survey-based data
- Maintain accurate, secure, and well-organized research records
- Contribute to the dissemination of research outputs, including literature reviews, presentations, manuscripts, and research reports
- Support Principal Investigator with related research tasks (e.g., ethics applications, grant-related documentation, project reporting)
- Perform other research-related duties as required by the Principal Investigator
