The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Assistant.
The Research Assistant will join Asst Prof QIAO YUAN’s lab to help with general lab function and work under Research Fellow on projects to investigate gut microbiota-derived metabolites in the host.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for general lab management including buffer and media preparation, inventory stocks, lab purchases, and ensuring proper maintenance of lab equipment and safety protocols.
Independently perform molecular cloning, protein overexpression and purification, as well as isolation and extraction of bacterial peptidoglycan.
Participation in the design, execution, and analysis of experimental protocols, collaborating with team members to optimize experimental strategies.
Maintain detailed and organized lab records, document experimental procedures and results, and ensure data integrity for publication and patent filings.
Support the development of new techniques and methodologies in chemical biology research.
Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and manuscripts for scientific journals and conferences.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to experiments and equipment.
Job Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
Demonstrate self-motivation and a strong interest in chemical biology research, with excellent organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
Must be fluent in speaking and writing English, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly.
Must be a team player, willing to collaborate across multiple research projects and provide support to colleagues when needed.
Proficiency in laboratory techniques related to molecular biology, microbiology, and protein chemistry.
Prior experience with bacterial cell culture, protein purification, and molecular cloning is highly preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in experimental work and data analysis.
