Research Assistant (Centre for Research in Child Development) [NIE]

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 12-month contract at the Centre for Research in Child Development.

Project Introduction:

The Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD) is seeking a Research Assistant to play a key role in translating research findings into accessible knowledge and supporting their dissemination to policymakers, educators, families, and the wider community. This role combines analytical and writing work with engagement and dissemination, including supporting CRCD’s digital presence and coordinating research dissemination events. It is ideal for someone who enjoys working with evidence and making it visible and influential. In this role, you will be working closely with Education Research Scientists, management and external partner organisations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, communications, or a related field.
    Candidates with a Master’s degree may be considered for a Research Associate position.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in research support, research communication or knowledge translation. Experience in project coordination, event planning, public relations or relationship management will be advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in using websites, LinkedIn and other platforms to support dissemination and engagement.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate research findings into accessible knowledge products (e.g. policy briefs, research summaries, practitioner resources, case studies and multimedia content) tailored to specific audiences such as policymakers, educators, parents and general public.
  • Adapt translated knowledge products and create website and social media content (e.g. posts for LinkedIn) to increase digital presence and engagement with CRCD research.
  • Plan and coordinate research dissemination events (e.g., pre-conference sessions, symposia, and learning exchanges), including preparation of presentation materials, to share findings and increase outreach. 
  • Support follow-up on collaborative and engagement activities with partner organisations, government agencies, and early-childhood networks, including coordinating information exchange and maintaining ongoing interactions.
  • Maintain schedules to track what has been produced, published, and disseminated across CRCD channels, and compile information for reporting on research outputs and engagement activities.
  • Support the preparation of reviews, learning summaries, reports, and grant proposals by conducting literature searches, collating documents, and editing draft materials.
  • Support centre-level processes and reporting by collating information and materials required for submissions to funders, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Any other research-related responsibilities assigned by the Principal Investigator or Centre Management
