Working in the laboratory of Professor Etienne De Villers-Sidani, the candidate for this position will provide advanced research support to the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team in a clinical research laboratory conducting eye-tracking studies in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). This role involves hands-on data collection, study coordination, regulatory support, and technical oversight of research software and tools. The position is intended for a candidate with a master’s degree in a scientific field who is interested in gaining experience in clinical research, neuroscience, or translational research environments.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be actively involved in the collection of eye-tracking and related clinical research data, including direct interaction with study participants and operation of research equipment and software. They will oversee data entry, data quality assurance, and study tracking to ensure accuracy and completeness across studies. The role includes coordinating and scheduling participant visits, maintaining study documentation, and supporting day-to-day study operations. They will assist with research ethics and regulatory activities, including preparing and updating study protocols, informed consent forms (ICFs), and submissions or correspondence with the Research Ethics Board (REB). They will help maintain compliance with approved protocols and institutional policies.
In addition, the candidate will provide technical support for eye-tracking and related research software, including troubleshooting, system setup, and coordination with vendors or internal IT resources as needed. Under the supervision of the PI, they may also contribute to basic data analysis, figure generation, and preparation of research materials for presentations or publications.
The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, with day-to-day guidance from senior members of the research team as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., neuroscience, psychology, biomedical sciences, computer science, or a related field). Proficiency in English and French. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with computers and data management tools; experience with research software, programming, or technical troubleshooting is an asset. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow established research protocols.
