Position Summary:
Under the supervision of Dr. Banerjee for the South Asian Health Research Hub (SAHRH), the health equity research specialist will be responsible for the following tasks:
Co-lead several funded studies focused on South Asian health equity utilizing quantitative and qualitative methods
Engage with community partners to ensure alignment with efforts to ensure the research projects are co-designed and self-determined and governed.
Have a strong foundation in health equity and social justice from a theoretical and applied lens
Advocate for the implementation of calls to action by community organizations with respect to research practices that are equitable and advance health equity.
Forge connections with stakeholders to gather research best practices and implement them in Canada for South Asian communities.
Conduct and analyze qualitative interviews/focus groups, leading scoping reviews and write-up of reports and publications.
Conduct bi-weekly meetings with the SAHRH team to discuss updates and project progress
Participate in conferences and other meetings related to South Asian Health
Co-supervise practicum students and junior staff
Any other tasks required by the Supervisor
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in hand
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in public health research and practice
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to social justice, health equity and community engagement
