The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Research Assistant 1 for the “Experimental Studies of Metal Flames” research project, with a focus on the investigation of nanoparticle production from metal combustion processes, reporting to Professor Jeffrey Bergthorson.
Responsibilities:
Undertake required safety training and learn to operate experimental setups related to metal-fuel combustion systems
Conduct literature reviews and prepare a draft summary of research related to nanoparticle production from metal combustion
Perform laboratory experiments on the production of nanoparticles from metal flames
Collect samples and conduct particle size analysis of the produced material
Present research findings at research group meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Has a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to the research project or academic research experience may be deemed equivalent
Prior experimental research experience, preferably in a laboratory setting
Familiarity with combustion processes and heat transfer
Experience with laboratory data collection and data analysis techniques
