Job Description
Brief Role Objective:
This role involves working within the fixed income research team to analyse bonds and fixed income securities, assessing their suitability for LGT Wealth Management while following our investment ethos. You will produce detailed research notes for new and existing securities that highlight their structure, sources of return, associated risks, and client suitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct bottom-up analysis using published issuer financial statements, credit metrics, and relevant market data; adept at detailed spreadsheet work and data quality standards
- Analyse fixed income instruments, including government and corporate, as part of ongoing research and upon request.
- Support sector or regional coverage responsibilities as directed.
- Maintain and update security spreadsheets and issuer databases.
- Clearly articulate why fixed income securities are selected and how they meet LGT Wealth Management criteria.
- Produce high-quality and client-friendly research notes, summarising investment rationale, risks, and rewards.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Fixed Income and broader Investment teams; contribute to team discussions and shared initiatives, avoiding silos.
- Engage with the Fixed Income Investment Committee to assist with additions, removals, or renewals on the approved list.
- Work closely with wealth managers and portfolio managers to understand their requirements and provide research support.
- Attend client meetings with team members as needed, helping to explain fixed income positions and market views.
Requirements
Key Skills and Technical Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Working towards or completed IMC and/or CFA
Other Skills and Attributes:
- Intellectual curiosity
- Excellent written communication skills.
- An interest in financial markets and some understanding of the key market drivers
- Strong analytical skills.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Personable, with the ability to build relationships with key external and internal stakeholders.
- Self-starter, motivated and confident in their ability to understand the investment process.
- Strong IT skills: particularly MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Proficiency with financial data systems will be required, e.g. Bloomberg, Factset and Morningstar.
- Financial modelling and sensitivity analysis, using software such as MS Excel, is also advantageous
