The Research Aide will assist with maintaining lab safety and equipment; install and modify lab equipment for both basic and applied research labs; design and 3D print parts for various projects; organize and catalog research components; performs data entry and analysis using Microsoft Excel and other software; remove equipment from abandoned labs and offices; reconfigure existing equipment in research labs, routinely tests eyewash safety stations and chemical safety showers; sort, document, and prepare unneeded equipment for surplus pickup; clean department spaces; install various laboratory equipment; provide cleaning and maintenance to the Graduate Student Machine Shop Lab; and provides research support in the Electronics Components and Mechanical Components Storage facilities to the department’s research groups.
Minimum Education Required – High school diploma
Required Qualifications – No previous experience is required. Proven ability to consistently adhere to established work schedules while collaborating effectively with a diverse team of individuals. Strong capacity to work independently from minimal guidance, demonstrating initiative in seeking assistance as needed during various collaborative labor tasks. Willingness to perform physical labor, including the lifting and moving of heavy objects, in a variety of challenging environments that may be dirty, dusty, oily, warm, or cold.
Desired Qualifications - Experience working in research labs with an emphasis on proper safety procedures, especially in laser labs.
The pay range for this job profile is $15.15-$19.79. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

Department Information
The Department of Physics at The Ohio State University is one of the university’s largest, offering a broad range of research areas and academic programs. As a department in the division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences in the College of the Arts and Sciences, the Department of Physics occupies the Physics Research Building as well as instructional and advising space in Smith Laboratory, the former home of the department. The department is the home to multiple internationally renowned centers and research facilities. The department currently has 50 faculty and approximately 60 postdoctoral researchers and research scientists, 210 graduate students, and 430 undergraduate majors.
