Job Description Summary:

The Consultant, Research Operations provides essential operational support to the Advisor, Research Operations and broader OhioHealth Research Institute (OHRI) teams. This role ensures efficient coordination of study related activities by managing communication workflows, supporting regulatory and administrative processes, and contributing to the consistency and accuracy of operational reporting. The Consultant plays a key role in scheduling, documentation management, amendment processing, and assisting with study start-up and study close out activities to support high quality, compliant research operations.

Responsibilities And Duties:

Study Amendment Processing
Ensure timely distribution of amendment documents and maintain complete, compliant records in designated systems and repositories.
Monitor amendment progress and escalate delays, missing materials, or feasibility concerns to the Advisor or Director as appropriate.

Study Close‑out Support
Support the study close‑out process by confirming completion of required documentation, assisting with final reconciliations, and coordinating cross‑functional close‑out meetings.
Ensure that all study documents are archived in accordance with institutional policy and sponsor/regulatory requirements.
Track outstanding close‑out tasks and collaborate with teams to ensure timely completion.

Metrics, Reporting & Documentation
Assist in compiling operational metrics, including start‑up cycle times, amendment turnaround times, close‑out timelines, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
Maintain accurate data in tracking systems and contribute to regular operational dashboards and leadership updates.
Support the Advisor in preparing presentation materials and reports to communicate status, trends, and areas for improvement.

Quality, Information Security & Compliance
Ensure all activities adhere to institutional policies, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Maintain secure storage of sensitive and confidential documents; adhere to information privacy and cybersecurity policies.
Support audit readiness through accurate and complete documentation.

Service Excellence and Team Support
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, service‑oriented environment for investigators, sponsors, and internal teams.
Provide administrative and operational support to the Advisor and Director of research operations as needed, including document preparation, process updates, and cross‑functional coordination.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as customer service skills and ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong computer skills, including thorough knowledge of OhioHealth systems (EPIC, CTMS, Microsoft).
  • Thorough understanding or ability to learn concepts and terminology related to clinical research trials.
