Job Description
The Reporting Specialist is responsible for collecting, analysing, and reporting packaging data to ensure compliance with national and international packaging waste regulations (such as EU-EPR and other environmental obligations).
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection & Management
- Gather data from internal teams, suppliers, and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of packaging weights, materials, formats, and supplier information.
- Ensure data aligns with regulatory definitions and reporting standards.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare and submit packaging waste reports for various EU countries in line with relevant local regulations.
- Monitor and update changes in packaging and waste legislation, ensuring ongoing compliance.
- Liaise with compliance schemes, regulatory bodies, and consultants as required.
- Produce regular internal reports on packaging usage, recyclability, and waste reduction performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with logistics and warehouse, packaging group, marketing and sales to gather data and prepare packaging waste calculations as per the requirements of the country or region.
- Support supplier engagement and data validation efforts.
- System & Process Improvement
- Develop and implement tools, templates, and processes for efficient data capture and reporting.
- Support the integration of packaging compliance into company systems and workflows.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelors/master’s in Packaging, Chemical or Environmental science/engineering, Sustainability or related field.
- Strong analytical and data management skills.
- Advance level expertise in Excel, Power BI and data reporting tools is a must.
- Understanding of packaging materials, formats, and good understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of packaging waste regulations (e.g. EPR, WEEE, PRN, SUP).
- Experience in sustainability, compliance, or environmental reporting roles.
- Familiarity with ERP or sustainability data platforms (e.g. SAP)
- Experience in packaging waste reporting for EU.
