Job Summary:
The Replay Operator is responsible for supporting in-game replay operations for Lakeland Flying Tigers games and Detroit Tigers Spring Training activities in Lakeland, Florida. This position ensures accurate, timely playback of game footage to support officiating and baseball operations decision-making in live game environments.
Working closely with umpires, replay officials, and baseball operations staff, the Replay Operator monitors live gameplay, assembles and presents replay footage, and operates league-approved replay systems in accordance with MLB and MiLB replay standards. This role requires strong baseball knowledge, fast decision-making, and the ability to perform under pressure in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate league-approved replay systems during Lakeland Flying Tigers games and Detroit Tigers Spring Training.
- Monitor live gameplay to identify potential review situations and assemble relevant replay angles quickly and accurately.
- Cue and present replay footage to support umpire and replay official review during live game situations.
- Work directly with umpiring crews and replay officials to ensure replay review processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with league rules.
- Verify replay system readiness and communication workflows prior to each game and event.
- Document replay activity, system status, and review outcomes as required by league and baseball operations standards.
- Troubleshoot replay workflow issues during live gameplay and coordinate resolution with appropriate league or internal support teams.
- Maintain consistent operational readiness across spring training schedules, including split-squad games, workouts, and exhibition contests.
- Adhere strictly to MLB and MiLB replay protocols, confidentiality requirements, and competitive integrity standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of baseball rules, including replay-eligible scenarios.
- Ability to quickly identify players, teams, and game situations.
- Proven experience operating in live sports replay or officiating support environments.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and accurate in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with umpires and baseball operations staff.
- Full availability for spring training and minor league schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Working knowledge of Mac OS and Microsoft Excel.
