  • Estimated hourly base pay: $31.73 (minimum) - $41.35 (midpoint) - $50.96 (maximum)

If you’re a leader and a skilled repair technician, we have an exciting opportunity for you.  Woodward is hiring a Team Lead to oversee the Repair and Overhaul Technician group in the 01-561 SEC department at our Loves Park Campus. This role will be on AWS 2nd shift (Fri-Sun 3:00pm-3:30am) and be responsible for ensuring the team operates in a safe and efficient manner, meets production goals while targeting quality expectations. Key Responsibilities:

  • The team leader will be responsible for ensuring the team operates in a safe and efficient manner, meets daily production targets with quality, actively engages in problem solving & continuous improvement, and is responsible for standardized work.

  • Process Improvement: Follows detailed work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy. Highly skilled at interpreting engineering blueprints and advanced GD&T knowledge.

  • Quality Assurance: Uses various gages to inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards. Records and maintains data per operating standards (SOP).

  • Organization & Cleanliness: Champions 5S principles, develops and refines 5S practices, and ensures consistent adherence to standards across the team or department. Collaborates with front line leadership to integrate 5S principles into broader operational processes.

  • Safety Mindset: Serves as a safety champion by fostering a culture of accountability within the team. Partners to align safety initiatives with organizational goals.

Key Skills:

  • Technical Assembly: Understands and follows technical instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Supports technical process development. Troubleshoots complex technical product issues based on engineering/ technical documentation. Leads complex technical tasks and mentors others. Evaluates product and determines component replacement needs for complex products.

  • Troubleshooting: Identifies gap-to-standard and resolves or escalates them per standard processes/procedures. Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex issues that arise during assembly and testing processes. Anticipates potential issues and proactively identifies solutions.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrates understanding of mechanical systems and components. Uses hand tools and equipment safely and effectively. Can tear down, assemble and test products and setup equipment to support varying processes. Completes complex changeovers and setups. Mentors others in mechanical best practices.

Additional Requirements:

Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear.  May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.

Successful Candidates typically have:

  • Previous experience in a Repair & Overhaul Technician role

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in Assembly/Test functions, including but not limited to ASV, FMU, CAN, SEC, Servo etc.
