Within the Optical Systems organization, this role plays a critical part in bringing new hardware to market by ensuring repair processes are production-ready, scalable, and cost-effective. The Repair Engineering Project Manager partners closely with engineering, operations, quality, and manufacturing teams worldwide to enable successful new product introduction (NPI) and product transfers, while safeguarding product performance, reliability, and repair business outcomes.

How you will make an impact:

• Lead cross-functional coordination of repair readiness across New Product Introduction (NPI) program management, design engineering, repair services, quality, test engineering, process engineering, and contract manufacturing partners
• Define and drive the repair readiness roadmap and prioritization of product codes to optimize business, cost, and customer outcomes
• Project manage repair engineering and failure per event (FPE) activities across multiple global sites for new hardware introductions and product transfers
• Enable and transfer repair processes to contract manufacturers (CMs), ensuring process readiness, yield, reliability, and cost targets are met
• Partner with repair supply chain teams to plan, track, and secure test equipment availability and capacity
• Collaborate with quality teams to identify, surface, and drive product and process quality improvement opportunities
• Provide technical leadership and support for failure analysis and troubleshooting with Ciena and contract manufacturer engineering teams

The must haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, operations management, or a related technical discipline
• 4+ years of experience in project management, design, manufacturing, or test of electronics products
• Working knowledge of product lifecycle management and new product introduction processes
• Demonstrated experience launching complex optoelectronic hardware or module-based products to market
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced, matrixed environments
• Willingness and ability to travel at least 10% of the time within North America and Asia

Nice to haves:

• Hands-on experience with fiber optic assemblies, fiber handling, and splicing
• Experience supporting failure analysis and root cause investigations for optoelectronic products
• Familiarity working with globally distributed engineering and manufacturing teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages such as French, Spanish, or Thai are an asset
• Knowledge of optoelectronic manufacturing processes and repair operations
• Advanced organizational and project management skills across multiple concurrent initiatives

Pay Range:

• The annual pay range for this position is $91, 800 - $146, 600

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
