The Reliability Engineer’s primary duties are to utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. The Reliability Engineer will define the test methods and product requirements needed to develop durable, disruptive, and market-leading products.

A successful candidate will bring curiosity, accountability, and strong experience in requirements definition, test development, validation, data acquisition and statistical analysis to the New Product Development team. The Candidate enjoys a fast-paced work environment with excellent visibility and opportunities to grow.

Duties and Responsibilities

Product Development 

  • Be a subject matter expert in the New Product Development team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and reliability
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing to define Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements with respect to all aspects of reliability, quality, and user needs
  • Support the product design process including benchmarking and testing of concepts & prototypes
  • Lead risk assessments (design & manufacturing) during the product development cycle
  • Design experimental techniques to improve development and testing efforts
  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process
  • Proactively seek out quality improvements for new & existing products

Testing and Analysis 

  • Develop new test procedures and create test plans to evaluate product performance against user and product requirements
  • Effectively document test plans, procedures, and best practices for execution in test laboratories
  • Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data
  • Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written conclusions
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field with 2-5 years of experience in similar product development, reliability, test, or quality roles
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and sound statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft, LabVIEW)
  • Experience with life data analysis, reliability distributions, and statistical analysis, and related software (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fault detection, failure analysis, and automating tests/measurements and analysis
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to travel 10% (includes both domestic and international)
