The opportunity

As a Relationship Manager at Altruist, you’ll own growth, adoption, and retention for a portfolio of high‑value RIA firms on our custodial platform.

You are the primary point of contact and strategic partner for firm leadership and key stakeholders helping them grow, compete, and succeed by fully leveraging Altruist across their books of business. You will bring the “best of Altruist” to your firms by orchestrating cross‑functional resources and by proactively identifying opportunities to improve their efficiency, profitability, and client experience.

You’ll combine deep RIA industry knowledge, consultative relationship skills, and disciplined account management to drive net new assets, expand share of wallet, and move Altruist up the buy/sell hierarchy within each firm. This role is ideal for someone who loves building long‑term, high‑trust relationships while being directly accountable for ambitious growth and retention targets.

Your impact

Strategic relationship leadership
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for a portfolio of advisor firms, including complex, multi‑stakeholder “top tier” relationships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each firm’s strategy, economics, client segments, service model, and technology stack and how Altruist can help them grow, operate more efficiently, and elevate their client experience.
  • Position Altruist as a strategic partner rather than a vendor by aligning on multi‑year plans, quantifying impact, and continuously expanding the breadth and depth of services used.
Growth, adoption, and retention
  • Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual growth, adoption, and retention targets for your book of business.
  • Drive net new assets, increased household penetration, and expanded usage of key Altruist capabilities ( Model Marketplace, Direct Indexing, HYC, Tax Loss Harvesting, ALTS, Margin)
  • Identify at‑risk relationships early, create clear recovery plans, and execute them with urgency and discipline.
Advisor practice consulting & business reviews
  • Conduct structured business reviews with firm leadership that connect Altruist’s platform and services to firm‑level KPIs (growth, efficiency, profitability, client experience, risk).
  • Provide practice management and operational insights drawing on your knowledge of RIA technology, operations, fee structures, and competition to help firms modernize and scale.
Cross‑functional orchestration & advocacy
  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Service and Product to proactively anticipate client needs and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Bring the “best of Altruist” to your firms by aligning the right internal experts and programs to each opportunity or challenge.
  • Systematically capture advisor feedback and surface insights that shape product roadmap, marketing campaigns, relationship management plays, and go‑to‑market strategy.
Events, education, and thought leadership
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales to organize and participate in client events, workshops, and webinars (virtual and in‑person) that deepen relationships, drive product adoption, and position Altruist as a thought partner.
Operational excellence & discipline
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of engagements, opportunities, account plans, and forecasts in Salesforce to ensure clear visibility and predictability for leadership.
  • Run a disciplined operating cadence for your book (QBRs, pipeline reviews, adoption reviews, executive check‑ins) and continuously refine it based on impact.
  • Demonstrate coachability and a growth mindset by actively seeking, absorbing, and applying feedback from revenue and relationship management leadership.
  • Travel as needed to meet with key firms, attend events, and deepen strategic relationships (estimated up to ~25–40%, depending on territory needs).

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Relationship management or sales at a B2B financial services, custodial, or advisor‑focused fintech organization, or
    • As an independent financial advisor or RIA home‑office leader, or
    • Consulting in financial services at a top‑tier management consulting firm with a focus on wealth/RIA.
  • Demonstrated expertise across the RIA industry, including:
    • Core technology (custodial platforms, CRM, portfolio accounting, planning, client portals),
    • Sales and business development dynamics,
    • Operations and practice management,
    • Compliance, competition, and fee structures.
  • Active FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Salesforce, Slack, and other modern sales/CS tools.
  • Proven track record of exceeding growth, retention, and relationship KPIs in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • Strong consultative sales and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence senior‑level stakeholders, run complex multi‑threaded conversations, and lead executive‑level business reviews.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; able to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable narratives for advisors, executives, and internal teams.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex product features and workflows and connect them to tangible business outcomes for advisor firms and their clients.
  • High standards for execution, with a bias toward data‑driven decision‑making, continuous improvement, and team collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large, diverse book of business, prioritize effectively, and maintain a disciplined rhythm of business.

Bonus points

  • Prior experience at a custodial platform, RIA aggregator, TAMP, or advisor‑focused fintech provider.
  • Experience designing or executing advisor practice management initiatives (e.g., segmentation, service model design, pricing strategy, operational diagnostics).
