Job Description: Reinsurance Underwriting Assistant
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
This role works in close collaboration with underwriters, providing essential support throughout the entire underwriting process. The Underwriting Assistant is actively involved in preparing, reviewing, and processing submissions, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining system integrity. By being embedded in the workflow, the UA contributes directly to underwriting outcomes and helps streamline operations, enabling underwriters to focus on strategic decision-making and client engagement. This position is integral to maintaining data accuracy, operational efficiency and improvement, and client service excellence.
What are your key responsibilities?
Underwriting & Operational Support
Provide end‑to‑end administrative support to Reinsurance Underwriters
Prepare, review, validate, and maintain underwriting documentation, slips, endorsements and supporting data.
Ensure accurate capture of underwriting data in core systems, adhering to internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with underwriting, operations, finance, claims, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of underwriting activities.
Support renewals, new business processing, amendments, and post‑bind activities with strong attention to detail.
Collaborate with internal stakeholder to support AI and automation initiatives within underwriting operations.
Controls, Quality & Compliance
Perform quality checks on underwriting data, documentation, and system outputs.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support audits, internal reviews, and control testing by providing accurate documentation and data extracts.
Reporting & Insights
Support the production of underwriting operational reports
Interpret data outputs and dashboards to highlight trends, operational risks, backlogs, or quality issues.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process simplification and standardization.
Serve as a knowledgeable operational partner to Underwriters, understanding both the business intent and the process execution.
Support knowledge documentation, SOP updates, and training materials.
What you need to have:
Strong understanding of reinsurance underwriting processes
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, finance, business, or a related field.
High attention to detail with strong data and documentation management capabilities.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret numerical data
Ability to translate complex processes into structured, data‑driven workflows.
Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions / geographies and work independently.
Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and adapt in an AI‑enabled operating model.
Proficient verbal and written English communication skills; additional languages such as Spanish, French, or German are a plus.
What we prefer you to have:
Previous experience in reinsurance underwriting support, operations, or a similar role preferred.
Experience working with underwriting systems and data platforms.
Role Factors:
To foster effective collaboration with underwriters and the broader team, the Underwriting Assistant is expected to be in the office at least three days per week. This presence supports real-time communication, efficient workflow integration, and active participation in underwriting activities
