The opportunity
We are seeking a reinsurance specialist who will lead the delivery of solutions for the Australia Pacific reinsurance team based on the Duck Creek Reinsurance system and related sub-systems. This role will also serve as the key regional expert in the Duck Creek Reinsurance system and related operational processes, ensuring alignment with global standards and business priorities. This role involves leading system enhancements, business process improvements, managing backlog prioritisation, providing technical support to the Southern Hemisphere operations team and collaborating with global and regional stakeholders to optimise reinsurance operations. Acting as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and governance forums, this role will provide guidance on architecture, design, and data integrity while supporting the development of QBE’s reinsurance product roadmap.

Your new role
Act as the regional expert on the Duck Creek Reinsurance system, providing guidance on implementation, architecture, and design decisions to ensure consistency with QBE business processes.
Lead and own the delivery of changes to the Duck Creek Reinsurance system for the Australia Pacific region. This includes new interfaces, new contract types and process improvement initiatives.
Advocate for and prioritise regional changes and fixes to Duck Creek Reinsurance and related subsystems, including configuration and functionality, while maintaining alignment with global and regional stakeholders.
Collaborate with Regional RI Operations, QBE Capital, Group Ceded Re, and other business leaders to gather and articulate requirements that maximize business value and ensure consistent practices across QBE.
Represent the region in Global Design Authority governance meetings and contribute to global decision-making.
Ensure regional integration and alignment with QBE Capital and Group Ceded Reinsurance strategies.
Work with the Global Product Owner to maintain accurate and complete Duck Creek repository data for the region.
Partner with regional Controls & Data Integrity Managers and IT teams to ensure system and process alignment.
Contribute to defining QBE’s Reinsurance product roadmap in collaboration with the Global Product Owner and IT leadership.
Manage and prioritize the regional backlog for Duck Creek Reinsurance and related subsystems.
Review and approve specifications impacting the region as part of the Duck Creek product delivery team.
Support delivery and testing teams with product knowledge and guidance on functional enhancements and defect resolution.
Participate in project and BAU governance forums as required.
Act as a liaison with regional business and application teams to assess the impact of initiatives on reinsurance processing and data integrations.
Provide operational support to the Southern Hemisphere reinsurance team to promptly address processing issues in collaboration with the IT support team.
Deliver Duck Creek Reinsurance system training.
About you
Detail-oriented, flexible, and collaborative with a strong problem-solving mindset.
Extensive knowledge of Duck Creek Reinsurance application functionality and data model.
Solid understanding of reinsurance administration processes and industry practices.
Strong communication skills, including ability to write clear functional requirements and manage stakeholders.
Familiarity with IT delivery models and agile ways of working.
Proven experience in reinsurance systems and business change initiatives.
