Job Description:

The Program Coordinator of the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs supports the development of the Reilly Center, leading the planning and execution of programming and overseeing all communications efforts that support the Center’s public engagement and strategic initiatives. This role manages 10–15+ events annually and is responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies to promote those programs and elevate the Center’s visibility. The Program Coordinator serves as a key partner to the Director in advancing the Center’s mission, supports major initiatives such as the Louisiana Survey, and oversees student staff, including training, mentoring, and delegation of work.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Planning, Execution & Team Management: Lead planning and execution of 10–15+ annual events, including symposiums, panels, and public programs; Oversee event logistics including scheduling, vendor coordination, speaker relations, and on-site execution; Manage and mentor student staff, including on-boarding, training, task delegation, and quality control of work; Coordinate with Manship School leadership, faculty, and external partners to enhance programming; Set timelines and priorities to ensure successful program delivery. 45%

Leading Communications Strategy & Execution, including: Website content and updates; Social media strategy and content creation; Email marketing campaigns and newsletters; Press releases and media outreach; Print and digital promotional materials; Annual campaigns (e.g., Giving Day); Collaborate with the Manship School communications team to align messaging, support broader school initiatives, and provide input; Oversee and edit student-produced communications materials to ensure quality, accuracy, and brand consistency. 35%

Administrative & Operational Support: Prepare contracts, university forms, and program documentation; Coordinate travel and lodging for speakers and guests; Maintain program records, databases, and contact lists. 10%

Budgeting & Financial Management: Monitor program budgets and track expenditures; Process purchases and maintain financial records related to Center activities. 5%

Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects: Partner with the Director to support and execute strategic initiatives (e.g., Louisiana Survey, research projects, new programming); Contribute ideas and recommendations that advance the Center’s mission and growth; other duties as assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mass communication, political science, public policy or comparable/related field; 1 year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in mass communication, political science, public policy or comparable/related field; 2 years of experience.

Specific Experience - Experience with strategic communication and event planning.
