Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Rehab Services, the Rehabilitation Services Technician is responsible for assisting the Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists in the Rehabilitation Services Department. The Technician assumes responsibility for inventory and distribution of supplies and linen, equipment cleaning, routine operational checks, assisting patient care, assisting therapist with medical record and billing compliance and performing other duties as assigned. The ideal Rehabilitation Services Technician is an adaptable caregiver dedicated to restoring functions, improving mobility and enhancing patient outcomes. This is a great opportunity for students that want to get PT or OT experience in the acute care setting or someone who has an interest in a career in rehabilitation. 

 

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Distribute linen and supplies daily.  

  • Ensure appropriate levels throughout the day. 

  • Check inventory of supplies and complete supply and form orders. 

  • Distribute supplies to the appropriate areas. 

  • Check that equipment is in its proper place and operating correctly. 

  • Clean exercise mats, treatment tables, exercise equipment, therapy equipment, etc. 

  • Change linen on exercise mats and treatment tables and return equipment/supplies to their appropriate storage areas to promote an orderly department appearance. 

  • Assist patients with dressing, changing and/or hygiene. 

  • Assist therapist with whirlpool treatments including the removal and application of dressings. 

  • Assist therapist with transfers, ambulation, exercise, patient positioning and preparation of modalities. 

  • Assist with mobilizing and transporting patients, phone coverage, patient scheduling, filing, and form collection and distribution for medical record and billing compliance. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School graduate or the equivalent 

  • CPR certification 

  • Knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft software 

  • Ability to use Chart Maxx, Spectrasoft Scheduling System, AGMC Intranet and AGMC HIS computer programs 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Interest in a career in rehabilitation 

  • Previous work experience with direct patient contact 

  • Enrollment in PT or OT school OR undergraduate students who are interested in PT or OT school 


Physical Requirements:

  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Ability to render services including moving, lifting, occasionally transporting, and assisting with the mobility of patients.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
