Your Role in Synergy's Success

The Regulatory Specialist II role will primarily focus on preparing regulatory documentation and addressing technical product inquiries ranging from moderate to advanced complexity; ensuring our flavors comply with industry standards and unique customer requirements. This role will require participation in customer consultations and engagement in internal project discussions and meetings. Specializing in a minimum of one regulatory niche, serving as the go-to expert and trainer, is required. Learning and advancing within multiple areas is the goal of each specialist. This role is ideal for a detail oriented professional eager to grow within the food and flavor industry. Given the technical nature of modern regulatory compliance, a high level of proficiency in digital systems and database management tools is essential in achieving reliability, speed, and consistency that our customers can count on.

How You Will Contribute

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare standard to advanced regulatory documents, complete detailed customer questionnaires, and answer technical product inquiries in a timely manner

  • Data Management: Support the collection, organization, and review of raw material supplier documentation while ensuring data is accurately entered into applicable systems

  • Research & Insights: Research various domestic and international regulatory topics and regulations to stay ahead of industry shifts and emerging market trends. Ensure internal compliance and determine potential impacts on organizational processes

  • Continuous Process Improvement & Education: Contribute to the evolution of internal regulatory programs to increase efficiency and reliability. Continue furthering knowledge of food and flavor regulations to specialize in a minimum of one regulatory topic and work in the area with little to no assistance

  • Training: Aid in the development and training of others within the organization

  • Certification Support: Assist with on-site audits and internal programs for facility certifications including Kosher, Halal, Organic, and Fairtrade

  • Customer Engagement: Support the development of new products, and new supplier qualifications while maintaining professional, courteous communication with both internal teams and external customers

  • Sensory: Participate in Synergy’s organoleptic evaluation program

  • Adaptability: Execute additional duties and departmental projects as needed by the department manager

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field

  • Experience: 3-5 years in a regulatory role, ideally within the flavor or food ingredient industry.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with various US Code of Federal regulations, including Titles 21 and 7, as well as non-governmental agency rules such as Kosher and Halal.

  • Digital Proficiency: Knowledge in digital systems, specifically:

    • Microsoft Windows Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Power BI)

    • Experience with Product Vision, TraceGains, Microsoft Dynamics 365, and Intelligent Authoring is highly preferred

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, with a proven ability to handle direct customer inquiries and successful experiences interacting with other organization entities, including procurement, operations, research & development, sales, and customer service

  • Core Strengths: Sharp attention to detail, superior time management, and the ability to multitask in an ever-changing environment. Exceptional critical thinking skills; using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems independently

  • Mindset: A positive, flexible attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Starting Salary : $65,000 to 87,500/yr

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
