Job Summary: This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), which is responsible for carrying out the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, passed by Congress in 2009. Commonly called the Tobacco Control Act, the law gives the CTP broad authority to regulate the manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products. The incumbent serves as a Pharmacologist in the Office of Science (OS), Division of Individual Health Science (DIHS).
Major Duties:
Qualifications: The position of Regulatory Health Program Coordinator GS-0601-07/09 falls under the 0601 occupational series. AND Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. GS-7: Additional Requirements: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service that includes assisting in providing basic scientific principles in carrying out scientific projects related to tobacco and/or other regulated products. -OR- One year of graduate level education in a field that is directly related to medical field, health sciences or allied science appropriate to the work of this position from an accredited college and/or university. -OR- A combination of experience as described above. -OR- Have a bachelor's degree as described in the Basic Qualification Requirements above and meet Superior Academic Achievement provision (S.A.A.) criteria. S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society GS-9: Additional Requirements: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service which includes participating in gathering and analyzing requested information for scientific projects and assisting with monitoring and reviewing submissions of tobacco and/or regulated product-related information. -OR- A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field related to the duties of this position. -OR- A combination of experience as described above in a field related to the duties of this position that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
