About the role
The Retail Regulation team is seeking an experienced Regulatory & Compliance Manager to join our Melbourne-based team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will execute a best‑practice regulatory compliance framework, ensuring the effective and consistent delivery of high‑quality regulatory outcomes for AGL and its customers.
You will lead a team of regulatory specialists, fostering a culture that values inclusivity, respect, collaboration, and continuous learning. As a key advisor within the Customer Markets group, you will provide clear, pragmatic, and strategic regulatory advice across a broad range of matters, supporting sound decision‑making and effective risk management.
What you’ll be doing:
Provide effective leadership, mentoring and coaching for direct reports, providing compelling strategic direction and a culture of high performance across the team.
Lead regulator investigations and requests for information (primarily from the Australian Energy Regulator and Essential Services Commission of Victoria), coordinating multiple cross-functional stakeholders to meet mandatory deadlines with a high degree of quality.
Delivery of regulatory reporting to meet AGL’s external regulatory compliance reporting obligations, as well as associated internal management reporting for executive/senior management on compliance related matters.
Identify, assess, and investigate compliance risks and issues, supporting timely reporting and effective senior management oversight.
Undertake proactive market monitoring and scanning to remain abreast of regulatory developments, compliance trends, and enforcement activity across the industry.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years’ experience in a retail energy regulatory or compliance role.
Demonstrated people leadership experience (highly regarded).
Strong project management skills, including ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver within tight timeframes in a high-pressure environment.
Highly proactive self-starter, who can self-manage time and priorities.
Ability to make decisions and drive outcomes in an ambiguous environment.
