Job Summary

The Regulatory Compliance Analyst is an essential member of the APJ regional Regulatory Compliance team responsible for implementing trade compliance programs to ensure the company’s operations adhere to customs regulations in Vietnam and other APJ countries. This role supports and executes all aspects of Customs compliance activities, along with other assigned tasks required to meet global and regional regulatory compliance objectives.

Job Description

The Regulatory Compliance Analyst, APJ plays a key role within the global and regional Regulatory Compliance organization, responsible for ensuring adherence to global Regulatory compliance policy and executing customs and licensing compliance activities across the APJ region, with a primary focus on Vietnam. The role requires solid working knowledge of Vietnam regulations, customs broker management, and other government agency import/export licensing processes. The ideal candidate should also possess a general understanding of customs and international trade requirements across the broader APJ region.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Customs Compliance: Coordinating with customs brokers and third‑party contractors on import and export declaration filings for Vietnam and any other APJ countries. Duties will include reviewing, preparing, and providing the required information to ensure timely and compliant lodgment of customs clearance adhering to global, regional and county specific regulatory and clearance requirements. This includes ensuring essential trade data such as HS codes, value, product descriptions, product origin, and product specifications are complete and made available to the customs broker.
  • Other Government Agency Licensing: Supporting the determination, application, and management of import and export licenses required by other government agencies (e.g., Vietnam’s cryptographic, cybersecurity, and radio equipment licenses). Duties include ensuring timely and accurate submissions to local authorities, maintaining relevant metric reports, identifying operational trends, and serving as the point of communication for all licensing‑related matters.
  • Regulatory Compliance Operations: Maintaining complete and accurate import/export records and licenses for Tech Data legal entities in the region, ensuring proper documentation, systematic tracking, and continuous monitoring of license utilization and compliance.

Additional responsibilities that might be assigned:

  • Support development and maintenance of trade compliance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) working closely with regional and global co-workers as needed.
  • Ensure vendors, contractors, brokers, and business partners follow established compliance processes as defined by our global and regional policies and SOPs.
  • Conduct independent import reviews based on defined sampling requirements.
  • Perform quality checks on record‑keeping and follow up on missing or incomplete documents.
  • Support the monitoring and interpretation of international trade regulations relevant to the IT and telecommunications sectors across the APJ region.
  • Assist the Local Regulatory Compliance Manager with trade compliance activities, assigned projects, and country‑specific initiatives.
  • Provide support for other global or APJ regional trade compliance programs as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 2 to 5 Years of relevant international trade, import and export experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international Trade or Logistics is preferred; may be waived for highly experienced candidates.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk‑identification abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation quality.
  • Strong English and Vietnamese communication skills required. Proficiency in an additional language (e.g., Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia) is an asset.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
  • Previous hands‑on experience supporting import and export processes for IT and telecommunications products, including an understanding of technical attributes relevant to customs classification, licensing, and regulatory filings, is highly desired.

Working Conditions:

  • Due to operational requirements, this position needs to be based in Hanoi.
  • The position follows a hybrid schedule, with employees expected to work in our Hanoi office four days per week to support operational and collaboration needs.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be needed to support regional coordination, urgent filings, or critical compliance activities.
  • The role may involve limited domestic travel to support operational or regulatory activities.
