Job Summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Regulatory Assurance Specialist to join our new Global Regulatory Change Management (GRCM) Department, reporting to the Head of Regulatory Assurance.

In this role, you will lead and manage global regulatory assurance projects across the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards.

The successful candidate will provide strategic thought leadership in designing and executing the Regulatory Assurance Methodology (1LOD), with a strong focus on regulatory change.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape compliance strategies, engage with senior leaders and global regulators, and strengthen Northern Trust’s position as a leader in regulatory excellence.

Major Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership in designing and executing the Regulatory Assurance Methodology (1LOD) with a focus on regulatory change.

  • Lead and manage global regulatory assurance projects, including planning and conducting assurance reviews.

  • Identify and assess control gaps and regulatory risks as laws and regulations evolve.

  • Apply regulatory and technical expertise to evaluate compliance impacts of new rules, products, and services.

  • Collaborate with senior management and global regulators to communicate assurance results and compliance strategies.

  • Ensure consistent execution of the Regulatory Change Management Standard across the organization.

  • Drive continuous improvement through risk trend analysis, working groups, and process enhancements.

  • Manage assurance project pipelines and perform special projects as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 10+ years of experience in regulatory assurance, compliance risk management, or internal audit.

  • Professional certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, ACA, ACCA) preferred Deep expertise in regulatory compliance within financial services, including financial and non-financial risk areas.

  • Strong understanding of corporate compliance programs and enterprise risk management frameworks.

  • Proven ability to lead complex projects and deliver results in an agile, fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including advanced report writing.

  • Leadership capabilities to set goals, manage resources, and influence stakeholders.

Salary Range:

$137,400 - 240,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
