Linnaeus Oak Barn Vets Guildford|170141 Full time

Registered Veterinary Nurse – Oak Barn Vets, Guildford

If you are a nurse who enjoys being hands-on, values a genuinely supportive team, and wants to keep developing in the areas that interest you, this is a role worth considering.

Oak Barn Vets is not your typical practice setting. We are based in a beautifully refurbished barn on the outskirts of Guildford, filled with natural light, which makes a real difference on shifts. The practice is easy to access and has on-site parking, so no stressful commute at the start or end of your day.

More importantly, it is the team and culture that make this role stand out.

Why this role works for nurses

This is a position where you will genuinely use your nursing skills.

You will be involved in:

  • Full anaesthetic monitoring from preparation through to recovery
  • In-patient care with a focus on high standards
  • Supporting surgical and diagnostic procedures
  • Running nurse consults and building strong client relationships

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to how the day runs. Your input will be valued and listened to.

A team that supports you

We are a friendly, close-knit team that cares about doing the best for our patients and for each other.

  • 5 vets with a growing nursing team
  • Reception and admin support in place
  • A culture where ideas are welcomed and considered
  • Supportive leadership that encourages development

As we continue to grow, there is a real opportunity to be part of shaping the practice.

Development tailored to you

We understand that every nurse has different interests.

Whether your focus is:

  • Dentistry
  • Anaesthesia
  • Exotics
  • Nurse clinics
  • Or another area

We will support your development. Previous team members have pursued certificates in anaesthesia and exotics, and we are keen to continue supporting individual career goals.

If you are motivated to learn and progress, you will be well supported here.

Work-life balance

  • No out-of-hours or on-call
  • Shift patterns of 7:30am to 4:00pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm
  • Saturday mornings on a rota basis with time off in lieu
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday

You will have a structured and sustainable workload.

Practice facilities

The practice is well equipped with:

  • Digital and dental x-ray
  • Laparoscopic equipment
  • K-laser
  • IDEXX in-house laboratory
  • Separate cat, dog, and isolation wards
  • On-site hydrotherapy service

We are also a cat-, dog-, and rabbit-friendly practice, reflecting our commitment to patient care.

Who we are looking for

We are less focused on years of experience and more on finding the right person.

You will suit this role if you:

  • Are confident working independently
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Take pride in patient care
  • Want to continue developing your skills

Team culture

We make time to enjoy working together.

  • Quarterly team socials such as quiz nights and team meals
  • Informal team events and breakfast mornings
  • A supportive and down-to-earth working environment

The package

  • Salary from £29,000 depending on experience
  • £500 CPD allowance plus in-house CPD
  • 50% discount on staff pets and free consultations
  • Uniform provided
  • Company pension

If you are looking for a role where you will be supported, valued, and encouraged to grow, this could be a great fit.

We would be happy to have an open conversation about what you are looking for and how this role could work for you.
