12 month contract, full-time opportunity

Location: In person, Mississauga, Ontario

Working hours: Full-time role (40 hours per week) with availability from Monday through Friday, with potential for evening and weekend shifts

Location & Hours of Operation: Ability to commute to 2-2624 Dunwin Drive, Mississauga, ON. Affirming Care Pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 7:00pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00pm.

Affirming Care Pharmacy is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations. Who we hope to find:

We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our incredible Affirming Care Pharmacy team in Mississauga, ON. Reporting to our Pharmacy Manager, the Registered Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing, filling, dispensing, shipping and checking prescription medications to our patients. In this role, you’ll make an impact by:

Providing Patient Care & Support

  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients
  • Assisting patients across various communication platforms: phone, email, SMS and secure messaging
  • Navigating insurance challenges with patients and proactively identifying solutions
  • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets to track and monitor patient records

Supporting Prescription & Pharmacy Operations

  • Executing the end-to-end prescription process: preparing, filling, labelling, dispensing, packaging and shipping 
  • Verifying prescription information is complete and accurate
  • Ensuring accuracy and safety by performing final checks on new and refill prescriptions, confirming each step in the dispensing process has been completed correctly
  • Maintaining an efficient, safe and tidy dispensary
  • Performing key administrative duties; managing a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, creating and updating patient profiles and maintaining internal pharmacy databases 
  • Assisting with inventory management: performing inventory audits, managing packaging and pharmacy supplies, and coordinating medication orders with the Pharmacist 
  • Ensuring every request is processed accurately and as per the Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Collaborating with the Affirming Care team and telehealth partners
We need someone who has:
  • A license as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (in good standing) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • The ability to work Monday through Friday, with the potential for evening and weekend shifts
  • Knowledge and efficiency of all aspects of pharmacy software (data entry, billing, report generating, and troubleshooting)
  • A positive attitude, a strong sense of urgency and a team player mentality
  • Experience performing a variety of tasks daily in a fast-paced work environment
  • The ability to set priorities and manage time effectively, and is detail oriented
  • Active listening and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
It would also be great if you have:
  • Experience working in community/mail-order pharmacies
  • Experience working with Kroll 
  • Knowledge of provincial/federal benefits programs 
  • Knowledge and experience working with patient support programs 
  • The ability to communicate with patients in Spanish, Portuguese, or Mandarin, both written and verbally
Compensation:
  • $55,000 - $62,000 CAD a year (we also include liability insurance and reimbursement of licensing fees)
  • The compensation listed above refers to a yearly base salary that may vary depending on a candidate's relevant qualifications, knowledge, competencies and work experience, and other factors including market conditions.
