Macquarie University Health has an exciting opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses to join our Urology Theatre team on a permanent basis, with full-time and part-time hours available.
Working within our state-of-the-art operating theatres, you will be part of a dedicated, highly skilled multidisciplinary team delivering outstanding surgical care across a wide range of urological procedures. About the Role
In this role, you will play a vital part in the delivery of a broad range of urological procedures, including endoscopic, laparoscopic and open surgeries. Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and fellow theatre staff, you will ensure procedures are conducted smoothly, safely and to the highest clinical standards.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and setting up surgical instruments and specialised urological equipment for each procedure
Performing scrub and/or scout duties across a range of urological surgeries
Conducting thorough pre-operative safety checks in line with best-practice perioperative protocols
Handling and operating essential specialised equipment including endoscopic systems, laser devices and irrigation systems
Assisting the surgical team throughout procedures to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Maintaining a safe, sterile theatre environment and adhering to infection prevention and control standards
Contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives and participating in team education activities

You are a skilled and dedicated perioperative Registered Nurse with strong experience in the scrub and/or scout role and a genuine passion for delivering safe, high-quality surgical care. You bring a collaborative approach, thrive in a fast-paced theatre environment and are committed to your ongoing professional growth.
Selection Criteria
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
Demonstrated experience as a scrub and/or scout nurse, with experience in urology surgical procedures highly desirable
Experience working with urological surgical equipment and technologies such as endoscopic systems, laser devices and irrigation systems (preferred)
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication and information technology skills
Proven ability to build effective relationships with peers and patients using a strong customer service focus
Well-developed computer skills including use of electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based research
Ability to work autonomously in the scrub and/or scout role while maintaining high clinical standards and a strong commitment to ongoing professional development
