About the opportunity
Our Emergency SSU is currently a 24-bed unit (12 SSU beds + 12 Transit Lounge beds), supporting patient flow directly from the Emergency Department. With plans to increase SSU beds in the near future with the opening of our two-story ED.
We care for a diverse range of patients requiring short-term acute care, bridging the gap between emergency and inpatient services. This unit is ideal for nurses who thrive in a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-moving environment.
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborate closely with the ED, inpatient units, and allied health teams.
Support timely patient flow through efficient assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
Contribute to continuous improvement and a culture of safety and excellence.

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:
A minimum of five years of recent Acute Hospital Experience (essential).
Advanced Life support (ALS1) certificate or ready to obtain (essential).
Telemetry experience (essential).
Previous Emergency/ SSU experience (desirable).
Post Graduate Certificate in ICU, Emergency, Cardiac, or Acute Nursing (desirable).
Proven experience in high-acuity, high-turnover environments.
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
A commitment to patient-centred care and team collaboration.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:
A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
