Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room Lead
Location: Main OR - St Lukes Medical Center
Department: Surgical Services / Operating Room
Schedule: M-F Days

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced RN Operating Room Lead to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight within our surgical services department. This role is responsible for coordinating daily operations, supporting staff, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced perioperative environment. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader who can balance patient care responsibilities with team coordination and resource management

  • Provide daily work direction to clinical and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient throughput.

  • Coordinate staffing, assignments, and resources to support surgical procedures and departmental operations
  • Deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Promote a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered environment through active rounding and quality oversight.

  • Facilitate effective communication among interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
  • Address service concerns and support resolution efforts to improve patient and staff experience.

  • Serve as a clinical resource, providing guidance, training, and orientation to team members.
  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and collaborate with leadership on performance evaluations.

  • Assist with hiring processes, employee engagement, and conflict resolution as needed.

  • Evaluate staffing levels and productivity needs; adjust assignments to meet patient and departmental demands.

  • Maintain staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage.

  • Monitor patient care quality and ensure adherence to organizational policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes

  • Support budget planning and ensure adequate supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with vendors, participate in product evaluations, and coordinate equipment training.

  • Assist leadership in developing and enhancing programs and services.

  • Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan, demonstrating understanding of growth and development principles.
  • Assess and interpret patient data to deliver individualized care aligned with departmental standards.

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – required

Experience:

  • Prior Operating Room or perioperative experience strongly preferred

  • Leadership or charge nurse experience preferred
