Overview:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for our Oncology and Hematology Clinic at the Phillips Cancer Center. This is a full time, Day shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

Hours: Four 9-hour shifts, 8AM to 5PM between Monday to Friday with rotating days off. No nights or weekends.

Sign on bonus of $10,000 available for qualified candidates.

About the position:

The Oncology Clinic RN will assist six physicians and three advanced practice providers within the physician's clinic group at the Cancer Center with rooming patients, vital signs, IV placement, port access, and phlebotomy. This position will also assist providers with care coordination for oncology patient populations to develop, participate and monitor multidisciplinary collaboration of services. The Center can expect to see between 80-90 patients per day. This role is expanding and will include additional duties within care coordination.

  • Chemotherapy

  • Biotherapy

  • Hormonal therapy

  • Targeted therapy

A broad range of supportive therapies to reduce or prevent anticipated side effects of treatment are available. The Sentara Martha Jefferson Infusion Center is on site at our offices, offering a safe, convenient and comfortable environment where patients can receive intravenous infusions and therapeutic injections.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing required

  • BSN or MSN Preferred

Certification/Licensure

  • Registered Nurse Licensure

  • ONC certified RN preferred

  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
     

Experience

  • 2 years of acute nursing preferred

  • Oncology Nursing experience preferred

  • Cancer experience Preferred

  • Infusion experience preferred
