Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Cardiology provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions in an inpatient setting. This unit also functions as an overflow from Intermediate Care unit as well as a Level 1 Stroke Unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to manage complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to inpatient cardiology patients
Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, labs, and patient status
Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols
Respond promptly to changes in condition, rapid responses, and cardiac emergencies
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge planning
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
Support quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives
Required Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program
Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in Connecticut.
Certification: BLS certification required
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN degree preferred.
Experience: Prior inpatient cardiology, telemetry, step-down, or acute care experience
Certification: ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe)
Work Schedule:
Part Time -24 hours - Night Shift
Every other Weekend/Holiday
This is an hourly position, included in the RN Step Program pay range: $36.15 to $59.95.
