Job Summary:

Location: Emergency Room- Float Pool

Hours: 36 Hours, Nights 7:00PM-7:00AM

Every Third Weekend Rotation + Holiday Rotation

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list.  Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.


1. Participates in and maintains awareness of performance improvement initiates.

2. Conscientiously evaluates and integrates evidence-based practice and research into clinical practice.

3. Conducts and documents accurate clinical assessments.

4. Develops, implements, and evaluates the patient’s individualized plan of care.

5. Manages own patient assignment by delegating effectively based on patient needs and skills of team members.

6. Develops a comprehensive educational plan for the patient and family, utilizing appropriate resources, and documents according to department standards.

7. Recognizes patient/family rights through support of their informed decisions and advanced directives.

8. Continually evaluates and revises the care plan according to changes in the patient’s health status.

9. Develops a comprehensive discharge plan utilizing appropriate resources and referrals including community resources.

10. Supports the development of new staff members and helps facilitate their transition into unit.  

11. Participates in professional development by identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate education.

Qualifications:  

  • A minimum of 1 year Emergency Department experience is preferred

  • Current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing are required 

  • BSN is strongly preferred 

  • Associate’s degree

  • BLS required 

  • 1-2 years of Critical Care Experience
